Santa Rosa is often regarded by dividing the city into four quadrants: Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest. Highway 101 runs roughly north and south through the city, and divides it into east and west sides. State Highway 12 runs roughly east and west, and divides the city into north and south sides.
The many neighborhoods and neighborhood associations encourage neighborhood participation by working to maintain the historic value, beauty, safety, and diversity of the neighborhoods. They collect, organize, and distribute information pertinent to all residents and provide a unified voice to the City.
The neighborhood associations include: Cherry Street Historic District, Juilliard Park Neighborhood Association, Junior College Neighborhood Association, Burbank Gardens Historic District, North JC Neighborhood Association, North West Santa Rosa Neighborhood Association, Oakmont Village Association, Olive Park Neighborhood, Rosalinda, St. Rose Historic District, Stonegate Neighborhood Association, Town & Country / Grace Tract Neighborhood, West End Historic District, West JC Neighborhood Association, and Apple Valley.
